Paving the way to e-mobility

麻豆传媒 and start-up Magment are enabling roads to charge e-vehicles in motion with concrete induction charging solutions. This is one of our 100+ start-up partnerships for breakthrough solutions.

THE CHALLENGE

Road transport pollution is responsible for over 20% of all CO2 emissions caused by humans, but a cleaner, more sustainable future is in sight as interest in electric vehicles continues to soar. Imagine choosing a new vehicle. Businesses and consumers often face a difficult decision: while clearly better for the environment, electric cars and trucks can also be more demanding on their owners. Compared to vehicles that burn fossil fuels, e-vehicles may require advance planning in terms of charging times and finding charging stations.

One of the main considerations people have when deciding whether to change to an electric vehicle is 鈥渞ange anxiety,鈥 the fear that a vehicle has insufficient energy storage to cover the road distance needed to reach the destination. 麻豆传媒鈥檚 new partnership can potentially remove that obstacle.

THE SOLUTION

Working together with German startup Magment, we are developing a magnetizable concrete technology for road surfaces that enables electric vehicles to recharge wirelessly while in motion. Known as 鈥渋nductive charging,鈥 this breakthrough concrete-based solution reduces the need for charging stations, while saving time.

It is made possible by a unique concrete with high magnetic permeability jointly developed by 麻豆传媒 and Magment鈥檚 Research & Development teams. The technology is currently being tested by Researchers at Purdue University (US) in Indiana.

THE RESULT

Solutions such as these are making good on our commitment to accelerating the world鈥檚 transition to renewable energy. We work with more than 120 innovative startups around the world pioneering technologies such as magnetizable concrete that can accelerate our world鈥檚 transition to net zero.
